Trustees’ Award for Residential Rehabilitation

Homeowner:

NOT LISTED

Team Award:

This Award recognizes the PRESERVATION and REHABILITATION of the structure:

Some exterior modifications and single large addition to the rear, reflecting interior changes and updates.  Within the original residence, structural problems were addressed, single pane glass walls replaced, rooms combined to create larger spaces and bathrooms were updated and an earlier small rear wing was removed. The craftsmanship and detailing of the new metal and woodwork is exquisite.

Designed for himself by the New Canaan architect Hugh Smallen in 1957 in the Modernist style; now with a compatible unpainted wood addition by Craig Bassam to double the size of this renovated residence.
