The Swallen/Techbuilt House was designed by architect Carl Koch in 1953 as a pre-fabricated house and constructed in 1954 for James Swallen. In 1964, a one-story addition was completed by Harvard Five architect Landis Gores. Recent renovations have brought the house up-to-date for modern living. The Swallen/Techbuilt House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
