Fact Sheets on the State and National Registers of Historic Places

There are many misconceptions concerning the criteria used for designating structures or districts for the Connecticut Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places and the effect of these designations have on on building owners and government agencies.   In addition, the possible financial benefits of these designations are not well known.  In order to clarify this information, the State of Connecticut Department of  Economic and Community Development has put together Fact Sheets for both the State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, which can be found at these links.  If you would like further information, please contact the New Canaan Preservation Alliance at ncpa_contact@newcanaanpreservationalliance.org.
